On April 11th – 13th 2008, Darien celebrates its 40th Annual Blessing of the Fleet Festival, which is the largest Shrimp Boat festival on Georgia’s East Coast. The 2008 Blessing promises to be the biggest and most entertaining yet! This three-day festival is expected to bring over 70,000 people to Darien, Georgia!The event showcases the best of McIntosh County’s tidewater community, the most beautiful setting on earth. It’s packed with fun for the whole family and features the best seafood you’ve ever tasted. The festival features great music on Friday and Saturday nights including County Superstar, Sammy Kershaw.
There is also a Street Parade, Boat Parade, 5K run, Miss Blessing contest, Art in the Park (juried), Classic Car Show, Kid’s Fishing Rodeo, Shrimpbox Derby, Children’s Activities, Carnival, Arts and Craft Vendors and Fireworks Display.
