Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament at Robin Lake, Pine Mountain

When the sun meets waterdrops in the air and incredible stunts can be seen over the water of Robin Lake, Pine Mountain, then it is time of the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament!

It's sun, fun and mega-excitement on May 23-25, 2008, when the world's greatest water-skiers converge on beautiful Robin Lake for a weekend of intense competition to discover who is the best male and female water skier or wakeboarder in the world.

The festival-like atmosphere at the Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament includes a merchandise plaza on the beach featuring state-of-the-art water sports equipment and clothes as well as many activities guaranteeing fun for everybody!

Darien’s Blessing of the Fleet is the Largest Shrimp Boat Festival on Georgia’s East Coast

On April 11th – 13th 2008, Darien celebrates its 40th Annual Blessing of the Fleet Festival, which is the largest Shrimp Boat festival on Georgia’s East Coast. The 2008 Blessing promises to be the biggest and most entertaining yet! This three-day festival is expected to bring over 70,000 people to Darien, Georgia!


The event showcases the best of McIntosh County’s tidewater community, the most beautiful setting on earth. It’s packed with fun for the whole family and features the best seafood you’ve ever tasted. The festival features great music on Friday and Saturday nights including County Superstar, Sammy Kershaw.

There is also a Street Parade, Boat Parade, 5K run, Miss Blessing contest, Art in the Park (juried), Classic Car Show, Kid’s Fishing Rodeo, Shrimpbox Derby, Children’s Activities, Carnival, Arts and Craft Vendors and Fireworks Display.

Winter Days, Orchid Nights in Columbus, Ohio

From January 12th – February 24th 2008 orchids will transform the Conservatory’s Pacific Island Water Garden in Columbus, OH with thousands of bright pink, yellow, orange, lime-green, and purple blooms.
Each year, the orchid’s beauty and mystique is highlighted in a special way!
Visitors will be able to view the orchid up close along the rocks, water features, and tropical foliage. The exhibition will show several species including vanda, masdevallias, oncidium, dendrobium, cymbidium, and phalaenopsis.
Featured in the Grand Atruim galleries are works celebrating the orchid by Gunter Schwegler, a fiber artist specializing in silk painting.
The popular two-part course, The Orchid Series and Orchid Forest Tours are scheduled in January and February. Orchids, plant books, and gardening tools for all ages are available at Botanica, the Conservatory’s gift shop and greenhouse.
A new feature this year, Winter Days, Orchid Nights will be held on Wednesdays, January 16, 23, and 30 from 5 until 8 p.m. Each evening will feature island themed music, tropical refreshments, and the warmth and color of orchids. The Winter Days, Orchid Nights is the perfect event to fight back the winter blahs and to spend an evening with friends, coworkers, or family with warm, tropical, orchids. It's a unique way to spend a mid-winter evening!
