19th Annual Bicycle Ride Actoss Tennessee

The 2008 Bicycle Ride Actoss Tennessee (BRAT), which takes place for the 19th time this year, will begin in upper east Tennessee. The blast-off will be on Sunday, September 14th 2008 and the biker will be out at Tennessee’s beautiful nature through Saturday, September 20th 2008.

The terrain on this year's route will vary greatly each day. There will be flats, hills, and mountains, but this years BRAT will be more Mountainous than the past years. Long graded climbs will abound!

Come and wait along the route for the bikers to cheer for them or register and participate yourself! But one thing is sure for everybody: Expect beautiful rural Tennessee scenery and back roads, a promise the BRAT keeps every year!

NASCAR racing in Bristol, Northeast Tennessee

SHARPIE MINI 300 - SATURDAY MARCH 15, 2008

It's the Sharpie MINI 300, featuring a mix of Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series drivers in a 300 lap dash for the highly coveted Bristol checkered flag. Carl Edwards returns as the defending Sharpie MINI 300 winner and he'll be competing again on March 15, hoping for another chance to do his backflip on the Bristol start/finish line. Tickets start at $45. Kids to the age of 12 get in for only $10! Gates open at 9 am and the race starts at 2:30 pm.

FOOD CITY 500 - SUNDAY, MARCH 16, 2008

One Dale is in a new ride and another Dale is competing in his final season. The spectator gates for the FOOD CITY 500 open at 9 am. The race will start at 2:00 pm. The last two Sprint Cup races saw two first-time Bristol Cup Series winners, in Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards. Who'll take home that big ol' Bristol Food City 500 trophy this year?

Baroque Concertos at the Spivey Hall in Clayton County, GA

Winter Days, Orchid Nights in Columbus, Ohio

From January 12th – February 24th 2008 orchids will transform the Conservatory’s Pacific Island Water Garden in Columbus, OH with thousands of bright pink, yellow, orange, lime-green, and purple blooms.
Each year, the orchid’s beauty and mystique is highlighted in a special way!
Visitors will be able to view the orchid up close along the rocks, water features, and tropical foliage. The exhibition will show several species including vanda, masdevallias, oncidium, dendrobium, cymbidium, and phalaenopsis.
Featured in the Grand Atruim galleries are works celebrating the orchid by Gunter Schwegler, a fiber artist specializing in silk painting.

Christmas Carol Ship Parade in Vancouver

Carol Ships 'Parade of Lights' Society began over 47 years ago with one boat decorated with Christmas lights in Coal Harbour off the Bayshore Inn (now the Westin Bayshore Resort & Marina). On peak evenings, this holiday tradition has grown to more than 80 decorated boats, with in excess of 150,000 lights, and carries over 45,000 people during the 23 night festival. Along with many community-based shoreside celebrations, more than 200,000 people enjoyed the parade in 2006.
